Hi, our names are Chris and Gerry Atkinson, we live on site in the farmhouse with our dog, Megan. Let us tell you about The Barnhouse:-

Situated in the Loire Valley our delightful holiday gîte has recently been tastefully restored and modernised for a comfortable holiday.

The Barnhouse is perfect for a couple, or young family who want to spend a relaxing, peaceful holiday in a quiet, rural hamlet.

The Barnhouse nestles  within our huge barn. The living accommodation is all on the ground floor, open plan, and has a bright, light, modern, but cosy feel.   We are minutes away from the charming village of Parcay les Pins where you can buy your le pain, drink with the locals or enjoy a traditional meal.  The gîte is suitable for people with mobility problems but there is a step into the shower room/wc

ATTRACTIONS IN THE LOIRE

The whole region is very flat, popular for lovely walks and safe quiet cycling. The Loire Valley is renowned for its abundance of beautiful and interesting Chateaux and the famous cities of Saumur, Angers, Tours and Le Mans are within an hours drive. FuturoScope at Poitiers and the Coast is achievable  in a day but possibly a long drive. Alternatively, you can cool off in one of the many lakes in the area, play golf, visit a market, or just relax and enjoy a glass of wine and watch the world go by.

The area produces some of the finest wines in France and you can visit the caves (wine producers) where you can taste before buying. Whatever your culinary preferences you can eat at some excellent restaurants in the locality, from the lunchtime cheapies (highly recommended), to top class nouvelle cuisine. There are also Chinese and Indian restaurants in the Saumur.

Tourist Information offices keep up-to-date leaflets describing attractions in the area, Also in our local villages, there are, throughout the year, many traditional events that are of interest to visitors and we will be happy to keep you informed of these activities.
